MUSIC is more important than MARKETING

There's a lot of focus on music marketing today.
Too many gurus, not enough teachers.
Here's the thing though, marketing isn't "bad" - it's really just understanding human psychology and using it to promote something. Thanks to the abuse of marketing in our world, our minds associate it with dishonesty, but the fact is you can promote something that adds beauty to the world - like art or music.
The issue isn't music marketing in and of itself, but that fact that it has become viewed as a shortcut; so much so that it seems artists are studying marketing before studying or practicing their craft.
This "cart ahead of the horse" approach is a recipe for disappointment and dissatisfaction, and I think we're seeing that come to fruition today.
There's just one problem with this outlook though - if you haven't made something memorable, it will fade away just as quickly as it blew up on TikTok.
In a world where musicians are concerned about A.I. and streaming companies that don't value our work, we need to get more granular and focused on the craft than ever before.
If you realize this, it's actually easier to stand out than ever.
Humans will always appreciate work done by humans - work that was done from a place of honesty and passion will have the best chance to endure beyond our lifetime.
And what we want is that kind of TIMELESSNESS.
